The Roxborough Conservancy
The Save Our Rox team established The Roxborough Conservancy, a 501©3 non-profit. SOR established (and was granted) this non-profit organization with the sole purpose to purchase and place this land into a conservation easement, keeping it wild and free forever. Funding sources will include a premiere donor, major gifts, community contributions, and a loan paid off by earned Colorado Conservation Easement tax credits. More details will be available later.
What is a Conservation Easement?
A conservation easement is a voluntary, legal agreement that permanently limits uses of the land to protect its conservation values. Also known as a conservation restriction or conservation agreement, a conservation easement is one option to protect a property for future generations. This can be an effective tool to protect land, often at lower cost to land trusts and public agencies. It is a legally binding agreement between a landowner and a land trust or government agency where the landowner retains many private property rights and can gain tax benefits. Conservation easements can be sold beyond the original owner to others who seek such properties for strategic reasons and/or tax benefits and why it can be of high value to owners to consider conservation easements in the first place.
