The Mission
To permanently preserve and protect the tranquil and treasured 35- acre Homestead parcel, in the middle of The Arrowhead Golf Course and The Roxborough Park Foundation, by purchasing and placing the property into a Conservation Easement.
Strategy
Inform the Roxborough Park neighborhood, surrounding community, local and state officials of the current threat to this property: A Developer plans to change the zoning and build a commercial Nordic Spa, and/or build residential.
Develop relationships and gather intelligence from third parties about conservation easements, landowner objectives, ARCIS (owner of Arrowhead) objectives, and Douglas County Commissioners.
Objectives
Ask neighborhood homeowners and other concerned citizens to send letters in opposition to each of the Douglas County Commissioners requesting they vote NO to rezoning the Homestead property to commercial.
Partner with Roxborough Park Foundation HOA management and board to work together on impacts and solutions.
Plan and execute a fundraising campaign to purchase the property and place it into a Conservation Easement with management by a Land Trust organization should the landowners be unwilling to place the property into an easement on their own.
Develop a relationship with the owner of the property, educating them on the option to place the property into a Conservation Easement for which they could gain tax benefits equal to revenue gains if they sell to another entity.
Develop a relationship and build awareness to ARCIS executive management, the owners of Arrowhead Golf Course who reside in Dallas, Texas. Learn more.
Develop and build awareness of the surrounding community with canvassing teams of homeowner volunteers known as the Roxborough Information Team (RIT).
Develop relationships with concerned third parties such as West Metro Fire.
Acquire knowledge and develop relationships with land conservation organizations and tax consultants, land preservation non-profits, and other interested organizations.
